General

Is this app free?

Yes, this app is free to download and use. I want this app to be as accessible as possible to as many people as possible.

Does the app have in-app purchases?

Yes, or at least, it will have. My goal is to be able to keep working on this app, so a monetisation strategy is necessary. We are still working on the details, but one thing will hold true: What is free now, will always be free.

Does this app have ads?

Absolutely not. I refuse to spoil your table top games with dumb ads about whatever thingamadoodle your phone currently thinks you are interested in. I dislike banner ads, I dislike pop-up or video ads, I won't include them in my app. We do want to monetise this app, but it will not be through ads.

Do you collect data?

No.

Don't need it, and don't want it. If in the future we have accounts, cross platform syncing etc, there might be some that we need to collect, but it will simply be the minimal information required for the app to function.

The plan is to set up opt in and manual channels if we ever want analytics.

How can I support the app?

Well, right now, download it and enjoy it! Show it to your friends! I will be upfront that we are going to monetise it – with new features and additions, not by yanking away what is now free – but until these channels are set up and you believe they are worthy of your money, just enjoy the app.

What This App Does

What games can I use this app with?

Whatever games you want? It was built for trading card games and boardgames that require you to keep count of stuff. Use it to record your gym sets if you wish. We are building a platform to discuss and find new games this app will work with – It might even direct how it's updated in the future!

How many players does this app support?

Currently, two. But we have plans to increase to any number between 1-8 players depending on device. Look to the future for that one 😊

How many counters does this app have?

A total of 52 per player. 1 Main Counter, 1 Sub counter, and up to 50 Tab counters per player (up to 10 visible at a time). The main counter is normally what tracks the, well, main thing you are tracking. Sub counter might be a secondary or niche item, maybe poison. The Tab counters are there to give you complete flexibility! You can change the icons in the sub and tab counters as well to help you remember what you are tracking.

Can I change the Starting totals? Or how much each counter goes up and down by?

Absolutely, to anything you want (within reason… No decimals and no really large numbers like in the millions… yet). But do you want to start with 437 points and go down by increments of 26? You got it.

Using the App

How do I use the two menu buttons?

They are radial buttons. They both work the same way, either tap to open them and tap on the option you want within, or drag from the button – the menu will pop open – and drag in the direction of the option you want, it will highlight, let go and it will be selected.

How do I reset the game?

Use the radial menu on the left (small white button with arrows). Either tap on it and tap on the players you want reset, or swipe from it in the direction of the player.

How do I open and close tab counters?

Swipe out (away from the main counter) from the small tab that you will see somewhere around the counter's bezel. It will pop open. You can then swipe out on it again to close it, or long press to edit its settings. Each tab has a couple individual settings that are specific to that one tab and will remain until you close it.

What are Themes?

Themes will completely change the look of your app! This is one of the parts we are most excited about as it will allow you to make the app yours! Almost if not all themes will also have a range of colours or styles that you can apply to give you a ton of customisation! We plan to release various themes moving forward, both free and paid.

About the Developer

Have you ever made any apps before?

No, this is my first app. I started in August 2025 and have been working relentlessly on it since. As of writing this I recognise that I really need to touch grass.

Why did you make this app?

I wanted to learn new skills, I like designing things – I am a product designer by trade with over a decade of experience. I never thought my first product that I launched into the market for myself would be an app, but here I am. Maybe I can make a physical version one day, I'm thinking timber and brass here.

While making this app I learnt about Kotlin, Swift, Git, and so much more. I am still a pretty newbie developer, but am keen to keep learning!

How is the artwork in this app made?

By Hand! Literally! I am a product designer/industrial designer! I start everything with hand sketches on pencil and paper. Mechanical pencil – because I am cool like that. From there it goes onto a digital artwork app, Illustrator, Affinity, etc. and then it gets uploaded into the app!

The default theme, SimpleGlow, did evolve continuously digitally, as I made changes based on what I learnt about UI and programming and it looks very little like my original sketches, but that is the nature of design!
There is a small section of visuals that are purely coded, like the colours and shape of these FAQ menus, but that's just because there is no need for an artwork. The UI was still hand designed though.

I plan on eventually recording and uploading the drawing process for themes, maybe a timelapse 😊

Why the name Armadillo?

Because they roll into a ball! Okay, not exactly, here is the thing, this app was inspired by horology from the beginning, The codebase is full of watch references. But when it came to finding a name, nothing set quite right – or was already taken or had the wrong feel.

So, one evening my partner and I were sitting down discussing names, and about 20 minutes in I said, "I give up! these are all boring or too technical! Let's just name it after an animal, name some animals please"

I kid you not that without missing a beat she just shouted "Armadillo!"
Then we looked at each other for a second frozen. And it was perfect! Not a commonly used animal, the name was available enough, the mascot could be cute, it rolls into a ball. We just rolled with it – pun not intended.
